Yearbook Club

Previously…

When Butler inherited the Hempstead High School Yearbook Club during her first year teaching, the club was over $5,000 in debt with their publisher and the yearbook from the previous school year (2021-2022) had not been completed. On top of this, the publisher would not allow the creation of the the 2022-2023 yearbook until a detailed plan for payment was completed or the balance was paid. Butler knew the yearbook club would need a total rebrand to pay off the balance and foster community engagement with the yearbook itself.

Fostering Engagement…

Butler’s approach

Butler investigated the reasons the yearbook club was in debt and devised an action plan. Butler used various social media marketing campaigns and fundraising efforts to increase the brand visibility of the yearbook club and boost sales. Prior to Butler’s leadership, the yearbook club had zero visibility within the community and zero social media presence, especially compared to neighboring districts like Waller ISD. In the spring of 2024, Butler had raised enough money to fully pay off the debt to the publisher, and she created an online presence for the yearbook club to pass onto the next sponsor.

Success!

Within the first eight months of promoting the yearbook’s Facebook and Instagram pages, Butler was able to increase engagement by 365.6% without using ads. She also increased the overall reach of the page by 78.3%. The yearbook club also saw a 70% increase in overall yearbook sales!
